Zero Dark partnered up with Paint it Black Entertainment to produce a Industrial for a new product called “Lets Frame It” The shoot went great and now we are waist deep in editingl. 1st Ruff cut is finished and am now moving forward with tightening up the ship. Wanted to take a break from the editing madness to show everyone some stills from the edit. The Industial was produced by Terry Nix and Adam Arnali, Directed by Adam Arnali and shot by Ryan Funk. Enjoy the stills :

After a great shoot, i went into a insane edit and everything came together in the end. However, the last few hours was a gut wrenching sweating bullets experience. I edited a graphic effect on the canvas where Common appears and it was taking forever to render as the clock was ticking. I decided to pull the render and just export the video without even seeing what the heck i just edited. I am soooo glad i did because the export of the video also took forever. It finally finished with thirty minutes on the clock to upload to current.com I thought i was in the clear until Current decided to also take forever to upload the video. I sat their and watched the clock hit 3:01 a.m. EST. and the video was only halfway uploaded. I prayed and i prayed that current would recognize the fact that i hit upload before the deadline and that the internet was to blame for the slow upload time. Well after it finally uploaded and i submitted it there was immediately a message from the contest moderator saying “phew! just made it” A sudden chill swept over me and a rush consumed me and me yelling “COME ON!” to “OHHH YEAH”! I felt like i scored a touch down at 1 second left in the game down by 6 in football. Phew is right! the Video is now online and you can view it here. Also go to the current website and hit the green button to vote it up and if you could leave a comment. Thanks to everyone that was apart of this project… pictures coming sooon!!!

Tuesday… First day of shooting.. and the Heaven’s opened up and rained on my parade. We were all set to drive an hour to go to Melbourne but all of a sudden the national weather service give us a 70% chance of rain and all the people we talked to basically said it looked like Ass out there. We decided to rock a plan B and drove around to some local Orlando Lakes trying to find something that would fit our vision. Nick Moo and Greg Simone had the amazing idea to go to a local apartment complex that had a little beach scene by the lake. Low and Behold it was perfect. Not the beach and the ocean but with the magic of cinematography and few palm trees we figured out a way to work it.
Donnie DeMak was our star and he was rock solid as the painter who is going to make the girl’s day. I asked the guys if they knew the owner of the apartment and they said he moved out a while back so basically we were jacking the location and everything seemed cool till we got to the last shot and the complex administrators caught wind of our actions and kicked us the hell out but we got away with the first day of shooting on Common’s Conquest Contest music video. Day 2 is a more hellacious shoot so i hope the rain takes it easy on me and we can avoid any more apartment complex scandals.

Day # 8 of contest complete. Day 1 of shooting is tomorrow. Its 2:33 a.m. and i just finished a crash course on how to water color paint. i went from a kindergarten level at 5 o’clock to who the hell knows level by now but i think i got a cool beach painting to use in the video. This video is all about water colors and stuff and i am not quite sure where i’m going with it all but water colors always look cooool so i believe its gonna come out great.
We’re heading to Melbourne Beach to shoot a Painter paint a picture while looking at the Ocean. It might rain tomorrow so i’m nervous that the heavens will open up and piss on my parade so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. The first day is always nerve racking for a director but I’m fairly confident. I’ll keep you posted how day 1 goes!

hey Zeniths, I just agreed to answer the calling of Current TV’s challenge to direct Common’s next music Video. My and Ryan Funk the Cinematographer are currently coming up with a concept for Common’s new song Make My DAy feat. Cee-Lo. We did a brain storming session today and came up with some nutty ideas. Now I’m going to write a treatment tomorrow. Current’s only giving us 2 weeks to shoot and edit so things are about to get CRAZY!!! i’m going to be keeping you abreast with the happenings via this blog + twitter. — Adam
