Dagnese talks to Zero Dark Cinema to tell you about their upcoming show at The Dark Party June 10th Held at the Cameo. To get there Chris D’Agnese travels over bridges and rides in a car to meet up with his band mates at the Dagnese Home Base.
What a week it has been! We floored the reality show people and went through a bunch of tests to make sure we are the real deal. Now we are waiting for the final conclusion amidst torrential downpour rain and lack of sleep. Now An industrial commercial shoot that had been looming is now coming to reality and we have to take a quick flight back to Orlando, crash a super bowl party, do a quick one day prep and burn film on tuesday. Following which we have to kick the tires and light the fires on Wednesday to rocket back to Los Angeles to lock down the reality show.
We have been so blessed with all the help from the Zeniths and Dark Nebula members to make all this happen. its been a surreal adventure. I wish we had more time to rage in Los Angeles but we’ve got biz to handle. Hopefully after the reality show we’ll be poised to rage in LA and finish this adventure off right! More to come.

Exit the Ride live at Backbooth from Zero Dark on Vimeo.
Exit the Ride pulled into Backbooth and played a powerhouse set including the song Cigarette’s and Alcohol to the raging fans who were drinking alcohol and smoking cigarette’s. The place erupted and not a sole exited the smoke filled alcoholic induced building. The end result? A band with the drive and a rock show for the ages. Zero Dark caught it on tape.

I filmed this right before the common video. this is part three of a Backbooth mini live video series. The Vanity Plan, and Eyes of God were the previous live video performances in the series. they all played that that defining night in 2009. I’ve never attempted a project like this and its amazing to see it concluded.

The Vanity Plan live at BackBooth Orlando from Zero Dark on Vimeo.
the Vanity Plan a hard hitting band that has recorded 2 EP’s with Matt Malpass, No More Lovers Die Tonight (2007) and The Ignorant Are Sold (2009). The Ignorant are Sold contains the song “Before I Die” which is featured in Madden NFL 10 by EA Sports. they perform “Before I Die” at the backbooth rock bar in Orlando and rock the house.

It was an insane show and the lighting at the Backbooth didn’t help but with my powerful color correction tools i created a unique look. I thought they rocked and the high energy they have on stage helped the cause for a good live video. I know the Vanity Plan are doing good things and i hope this piece will push them to the next level. Much love to everyone who helped out and to the Vanity Plan for Believing in the Dark

Woke up at 9a.m. by a phone call from Rene, telling me the Rollins locations decided that they needed more time to push through the red tape in order for us to shoot there. I was soo tired from last night when after the shoot i drove an hour in the middle of the night to meet Kujo to pick up the water color painting of Veronica which we would be using that day. I didn’t even get mad i just told him not to worry about it while i went back to bed. However, i got up 30 minutes later freaking out. Luckily i remembered Ryan Funk knew of a Fountain location in a Park right behind his house that would look perfect. So we completely changed our second location. Two Locations shot so far, two location changes. Things didn’t appear to be looking good for this production however, every curve ball they through at us we found away around it.
When i arrived at the fountain i knew it was a blessing in disguise. After we shot that out then it was off to the clothing store. Etoile which is a vintage store on Robinson just after Bumby near downtown. Beautiful store and Ryan Funk lit it amazingly. Once we played the song and the girl’s started dancing i realized for the first time since this whole video began that we were making something cool here. Thanks to Katie for letting us shop at her beautiful store and she even said there’s a chance to sell the phoenix shirt there which I’m super stoked about. Also thanks to Veronica Santiago for hooking me up with that store and Austin Coffee and Film. Speaking of Austin’s, after Etoile we went to Austin’s at midnight and shot the rest of the shoot. At the end it all came together and so many great people worked on it that were previously connected and new connections were forged. All in all an amazing shoot. Thanks for everyone who helped out. Next on the list is Capturing and Editing. We are up against the time deadline and have to get this thing fully edited by Monday night at Midnight. I’m hoping the capturing process goes well so we can just jump into this thing and rock out. I’ll keep you posted in my next journal.

Tuesday… First day of shooting.. and the Heaven’s opened up and rained on my parade. We were all set to drive an hour to go to Melbourne but all of a sudden the national weather service give us a 70% chance of rain and all the people we talked to basically said it looked like Ass out there. We decided to rock a plan B and drove around to some local Orlando Lakes trying to find something that would fit our vision. Nick Moo and Greg Simone had the amazing idea to go to a local apartment complex that had a little beach scene by the lake. Low and Behold it was perfect. Not the beach and the ocean but with the magic of cinematography and few palm trees we figured out a way to work it.
Donnie DeMak was our star and he was rock solid as the painter who is going to make the girl’s day. I asked the guys if they knew the owner of the apartment and they said he moved out a while back so basically we were jacking the location and everything seemed cool till we got to the last shot and the complex administrators caught wind of our actions and kicked us the hell out but we got away with the first day of shooting on Common’s Conquest Contest music video. Day 2 is a more hellacious shoot so i hope the rain takes it easy on me and we can avoid any more apartment complex scandals.

Wednesday night is not historically a raging good time and the Streets of Downtown Orlando were as bustling as a desert at high noon with no breeze. Not exactly a tremendous start to a night… However, what was non existent on the streets was concealed considerably inside. At backbooth the Kiki Rock Benefit pounded the walls and cracked the paint of the ceiling. HOw this didn’t spill over into the street I don’t know. What i did know is that Last night was a crazy 1. Not to get into too many details but it was filled with killer bands, a former wrestler talk shit-a-thon, a French Burlesque Troupe, and a Satanic Cult trying to bring down the high mountain. This was just at backbooth. Over at the Social, the Banshee was reeling from the Onslaught of Grammy 1 a B’s who were all dressed up like zombies with Guitars. NOt sure what that was all about but on day one of the Florida Music Festival i tried to keep my alcohol level to a bare minimum but couldn’t stop people from buying me drinks.
As it turns out i ended up at the After party for the Band Exit the Ride and thirty people broke out laughing for about an hour after someone told everyone that Meatloaf’s new record was called Multi-Meatloaf. Now that i’m sober its not that funny but perhaps everyone was on drugs. Oh well.. It was definatley a Maverick approved night.. Tonight is destined to be even more intense as the freaks will start to come out as we step closer to the weekend wreakage..
